about

Fr.om’s signature drum and bass sound is built from a multitude of instruments, synths, and frequent drum change ups.

“NK Cells” opens quietly, waiting for the introduction of a bowed double bass that will be the featured instrument of the drum and bass track. Layered drum breaks shuffle and change up often. Echoey high fidelity sound effects, warm synthesizers, and muted lo-fi sounds collide in the mix.

“Environment Capability’s” sparseness creates an ethereal setting before dropping into a funky, upbeat bassline reminiscent of Droppin' Science. Wisps of orchestra and jazz samples foreshadow the alto sax lead which growls and screeches with the rhythm.

Droning and dissonant like one would get from slowly tuning instruments, “Kuro” is a freeform track with four passages. The first and third passages use sporadic talking to hint at a rhythm. The second passage resembles deconstructed drum and bass with a few scattered break beats. The final passage becomes a deep, distorted drone like it belongs to a grainy film.

Nic TVG’s remix of “NK Cells” shifts the original slightly to a more drumfunk style. The bass line becomes sparser and the effects more ambient allowing the focus to be on each of the different drum breaks. The second half resolves into a set of uplifting harmonies.

about

Pinecone Moonshine Portland, Oregon

Run by Nic TVG, Pinecone Moonshine is a collection of Drumfunk (drum and bass) and other abstract and ambient music.

See the neocities link below for the demo policy.

Majority of the tracks are melancholy collages of noise, heavily processed samples, and atmospherics driven by broken break beats and heavy sub. Free jazz, early electronics, blues, and funk are noticeable influences.
